Former Italy international Marco Borriello has identified Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a possible option for Juventus as the Italian club seeks to strengthen its attack.
Borriello, who was part of AC Milan’s UEFA Champions League-winning team in 2007, praised Osimhen’s physical strength and familiarity with Italian football.
Speaking to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Borriello said Juventus needed a top-class centre-forward and described Osimhen as a potential candidate.
“Osimhen? Maybe. He’s strong, he knows Serie A and Spalletti,” he said, referring to Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti, who previously coached the Nigerian striker at Napoli.
Osimhen enjoyed a successful spell at Napoli, scoring 76 goals and providing 18 assists in 133 appearances across all competitions. He also played a key role in the club’s 2022/2023 Serie A title triumph, its first league championship in 33 years.
The Super Eagles forward has continued to impress at Galatasaray, recording nine goals and three assists in nine appearances this season, according to published reports.
However, a potential move to Juventus could prove financially challenging. Reports indicate that a clause in Osimhen’s agreement with Galatasaray could trigger a €70 million penalty payable to Napoli if the Turkish club sells him to another Serie A side before the summer 2027 transfer window closes.
Borriello’s comments highlight Osimhen’s continued reputation in Italian football, but they do not confirm that Juventus have opened negotiations or made a formal offer.
