Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Taraba State have received medical supplies and educational materials from a New York-based humanitarian organisation, Open Arms Amazing Charitable Organization Inc., to support healthcare and education among vulnerable communities.
The donation was presented to the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), Dr Echuseh Audu, by Enoch Reuben, who represented the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Magdalene N. Agada.
Reuben said the donation reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting displaced persons and commended TSEMA for its humanitarian interventions across the state.
He added that the organisation intended to complement the efforts of the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas in improving the welfare of vulnerable residents.
Receiving the items, Dr Audu expressed appreciation to the organisation and assured that the donated materials would be put to appropriate use.
She explained that the medicines would help address healthcare needs among vulnerable residents, while the exercise books would support educational access and complement the state government’s free education policy.
The TSEMA executive secretary also described the organisation as a dependable partner in humanitarian assistance and called on other organisations, philanthropists and individuals to support initiatives aimed at improving conditions for displaced people.
The intervention highlights the importance of partnerships between humanitarian organisations and public agencies in addressing the healthcare and educational needs of displaced communities. Sustained support remains important to helping affected families access essential services.
