Residents of Millennium City in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State are increasingly concerned about their safety following another kidnapping incident at Nuru Suraj Estate.

The latest attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 27, when armed men reportedly invaded the estate through its second gate and abducted about six residents.

Security personnel reportedly pursued the attackers, leading to an encounter that resulted in the rescue of some victims. However, the exact number of people rescued and the whereabouts of the remaining victims were not immediately established.

The incident has renewed concerns about recurring kidnappings and armed attacks in Millennium City and surrounding neighbourhoods, including Babban Saura, Osibanjo Estate, Kyauta and Danhonu.

Residents have expressed fears that the repeated attacks could disrupt daily activities and force some families to consider leaving their homes. Community members are calling for a stronger security presence, improved patrols, better intelligence gathering and faster responses to distress calls.

The latest incident occurred less than two weeks after the Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido. The operations also resulted in the recovery of AK-47 rifles.

Despite these efforts, the latest abduction has renewed questions about the effectiveness of existing security measures in the rapidly expanding residential area.

The situation highlights the importance of sustained security operations and cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies. Protecting communities from kidnapping requires timely intelligence, effective patrols and prompt action against suspected criminal networks.
