Chinese robotics manufacturer Unitree Robotics reported a 70% increase in third-quarter revenue, highlighting the rapid growth of the country’s robotics industry. However, declining profits and rising research costs have raised questions about the sector’s long-term profitability.
According to a Reuters report published on October 28, 2026, Unitree generated 665 million yuan (about $100 million) in revenue for the third quarter, while net profit fell 17.4% to 112.7 million yuan.
The company’s research and development spending surged nearly 250% to 127 million yuan as it invested in artificial intelligence, computing capacity and robot development.
For the first nine months of 2026, revenue climbed 55.7% to 1.82 billion yuan, reflecting continued demand for the company’s robotic products.
Unitree’s latest results come as investors closely monitor China’s robotics industry for evidence that rapid technological progress can translate into sustainable commercial growth.
Although revenue growth remains strong, the decline in quarterly profit underscores the financial challenges facing robotics companies as they increase investment to remain competitive.
The results could also influence investor confidence in other Chinese robotics manufacturers preparing to enter public markets.
