Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly sustained injuries after suspected political thugs attacked vehicles conveying them to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s campaign flag-off in Funtua.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 28, along the Malumfashi route as supporters travelled to attend the Tinubu–Dikko campaign event in Funtua Senatorial Zone.

Affected supporters alleged that groups of youths attacked their vehicles with stones, bottles and other objects, damaging windscreens and windows. Some also reported losing personal belongings during the incident.

Stones were reportedly scattered around the Malumfashi town roundabout, while several vehicles sustained damage. The disturbances temporarily disrupted movement along the route.

Despite the incident, Governor Radda proceeded with the campaign flag-off in Funtua, where he presented his administration’s Building Your Future scorecard, outlining achievements and ongoing projects.

The statewide campaign is expected to cover Katsina State’s three senatorial zones, 34 local government areas and 361 wards ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of the latest reports available, the identities and affiliations of the alleged attackers had not been established publicly. Authorities had also not issued an official statement confirming the circumstances of the incident or announcing arrests.

The reported violence raises concerns about the safety of political supporters travelling to campaign events. Prompt investigation, accountability and effective security arrangements will be important to protecting lives and property during political activities.
