Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has explained why he selected former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate, saying the decision was driven by the need to build a broad based political alliance capable of uniting the country and addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
Speaking during a public engagement, Obi said his choice of Kwankwaso was based on the former governor’s political experience, leadership credentials and strong grassroots support, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
According to Obi, the decision reflected a commitment to national unity and inclusive governance, emphasizing that Nigeria’s diversity requires leaders who can work across regional, ethnic and religious lines.
He noted that Kwankwaso’s record in public service and his influence within the political landscape made him a suitable partner in pursuing a shared vision for economic growth, improved security and better governance.
