A 53-year-old woman has been sentenced to jail for dumping refuse into a drainage channel in Lagos State.
The woman was reportedly arrested after she was caught disposing of waste in the drain, an act authorities said could contribute to flooding and environmental pollution.
The conviction underscores Lagos State’s continued enforcement of environmental laws and its efforts to discourage indiscriminate waste disposal across the state.
Residents have also been urged to dispose of their waste properly and make use of approved waste collection channels.
