United Bank for Africa (UBA) has opened entries for its 2026 National Essay Competition, offering Nigerian secondary school students the opportunity to win a share of about N41 million in educational grants and other prizes.
The annual competition, organised through the UBA Foundation, is designed to encourage reading, writing and critical thinking among young Nigerians while supporting their educational development.
The 2026 edition is open to senior secondary school students across Nigeria, giving participants an opportunity to showcase their writing skills and compete for major educational rewards.
The overall winner is expected to receive a substantial educational grant, while other top-performing participants will also receive grants and additional prizes. The competition is intended not only to reward academic ability but also to encourage students to develop confidence in expressing their ideas on important issues affecting society.
