The Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Victor Bobai, has urged Nigerians to avoid criticisms that could distract Defence Minister, Gen. Christopher Musa, from tackling insecurity in the country.

Bobai, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, said Musa should remain focused on addressing insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other security challenges.

His comments followed reactions to a recent television interview in which Musa discussed security, politics and the 2027 elections. While some Nigerians described his remarks as frank and truthful, others criticised his comments.

Bobai said Nigerians had the right to disagree with the minister but urged them to challenge his claims with evidence rather than personal attacks or political labels.

He also argued that Musa’s comments should be viewed as personal opinions rather than official military directives or defence policies, noting that the minister did not instruct the Armed Forces to support any political party.

The governor’s aide cautioned against judging Musa’s decades of military service based on a single interview, highlighting his service in the North East, tenure as Chief of Defence Staff and current role as Defence Minister.

Bobai further urged Nigerians to watch the full interview and rely on the original context rather than edited social media clips.

“Gen. Musa should be allowed to speak, and Nigerians should be allowed to challenge what he says. That is democracy,” he said, stressing that criticism should focus on evidence rather than the minister’s patriotism or political perceptions.
