The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim, arrested 10 suspects and recovered a locally made firearm in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the operations were carried out on September 4 in Agbor, Abbi and Oghara.
In Agbor, police operatives, supported by forest guards and local security personnel, engaged suspected kidnappers at Alisime Village and rescued the victim unharmed. The suspects reportedly fled into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries. A mobile phone and ATM card were recovered, while a manhunt continues.
At Abbi, operatives of the Command Anti Cult Unit raided a brothel while searching for a suspect wanted over an alleged arson attack in Owhelogbo Community. Ten suspects, comprising seven females and three males, were arrested, with Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and substances suspected to be Indian hemp recovered.
In Oghara, police responding to a reported scuffle along Ibori Road recovered a locally made cut to size firearm allegedly discarded by a fleeing suspect identified as “Highest.”
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives and directed that efforts be intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
