Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has approved the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPMB), Mr Birsan Penuel, over alleged irregularities in the discharge of his official responsibilities.
The suspension, according to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, is to allow for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the most senior Director in the Board has been directed to take over its affairs and ensure uninterrupted operations.
Governor Fintiri said the administration remains committed to sanitising and repositioning the education sector for improved service delivery.
He highlighted the government’s efforts over the past seven years, including the recruitment of qualified teachers, construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, provision of instructional materials and regular payment of salaries and allowances.
Fintiri reiterated his determination to build a functional, effective and credible post primary education system in Adamawa State, stressing that necessary measures would be taken to protect the integrity of the sector.
The Governor also warned political appointees and public officers to uphold due process, transparency and accountability, adding that acts capable of undermining progress in the education sector would be dealt with decisively.
