Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 11 kidnapped victims during separate security operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operations were conducted on October 30 and 31 in Ribah town and the Wasagu-Falfala general area.
The Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, said troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call on October 30 after suspected terrorists blocked the Ribah-Dirindaji road while attempting to invade Ribah town.
The attackers had fled with seven residents before troops arrived. The soldiers pursued them towards Rambo village, forcing them to abandon the captives. The seven victims were subsequently reunited with their families.
In a separate operation on October 31, troops conducting a routine patrol in the Wasagu-Falfala area came under attack by terrorists who had laid an ambush along their route.
The soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to flee. A subsequent search led to the discovery of four kidnapped victims abandoned during the exchange of fire.
The four victims, residents of Wasagu village, were handed over to the village head for further assistance.
Captain Sinivie urged residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
The rescues highlight continued military efforts to protect communities and disrupt kidnapping activities across Kebbi State and the wider North-West region, where attacks on rural communities and road users remain a security concern.
