Nigeria’s Flamingos have arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian delegation landed in Casablanca and settled at the Ibis Hotel, where the players and technical crew will continue their final preparations ahead of the tournament.
Head coach Akeem Busari has named a 21-player squad for the competition, with captain Harmony Chidi set to lead the team.
The Flamingos booked their place after winning the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Championship and now face a demanding Group B campaign against Poland, Puerto Rico and two-time defending champions Korea DPR.
Nigeria will begin their campaign against Poland on Saturday, October 17, before facing Puerto Rico on October 20. Their final group fixture will be against Korea DPR on October 23.
All three group matches will be played at the Women’s Football Complex in Rabat.
The Flamingos will be hoping to improve on their third-place finish at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup as they target another deep run in the competition.
With the tournament running from October 17 to November 7, Busari’s side will use the remaining days to adapt to the Moroccan conditions, fine-tune their tactics and build momentum before their opening match.
The Nigerian youngsters will need to navigate a difficult group successfully if they are to advance to the knockout stages and continue their quest for a maiden world title.
