Google DeepMind and Google Cloud will provide up to 200 European scientific researchers with access to advanced artificial intelligence models, alongside $3 million in computing credits, as the company seeks to accelerate scientific research across the region.
The initiative will give researchers access to Google’s scientific AI tools, including AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations. These technologies support research across areas such as molecular biology, weather forecasting, genomics, computing and Earth observation.
Google said the programme is intended to help scientists address complex research challenges more efficiently. By providing access to advanced AI systems and computing resources, researchers could improve their ability to analyse scientific data, develop predictions and explore solutions to problems that traditionally require substantial computational resources.
The move highlights the growing role of AI in scientific discovery, as technology companies expand access to specialised models beyond their internal research teams. The initiative could strengthen Europe’s scientific research capabilities while demonstrating how advanced AI and cloud computing can support innovation across multiple disciplines.
