Apple will replace a small number of its new foldable iPhone Duo devices after users reported cracks and lines on the inner screen near the central hinge.
The company acknowledged the issue on October 26 and advised affected customers to contact AppleCare for replacement assistance. However, Apple has not disclosed the cause of the damage.
Repair specialist iFixit suggested that the hinge mechanism could be putting pressure on the display near an internal cable, potentially causing the screen to crack. Apple has not confirmed this explanation.
The reports come as the iPhone Duo experiences strong demand following its launch, with initial online orders selling out within minutes.
Industry analyst Francisco Jeronimo said Apple’s quick response was an important first step, noting that transparent communication can help maintain customer confidence when new products encounter problems.
The number of affected devices remains unclear, while Apple’s handling of the issue could influence confidence in its first foldable smartphone.
