The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dusty haze across parts of northern Nigeria, sunny and cloudy conditions in the central region, and isolated rainfall and thunderstorms in the South.
In its weather outlook issued on Friday, October 23, the agency predicted slight dust haze across most northern areas, with moderate haze expected in parts of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi, northern Borno and Yobe states.
The forecast indicated that the central region would experience sunny skies with patches of cloud throughout the day.
In the South, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine and possible light rainfall were expected in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
NiMet also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall in parts of Abia and Imo states.
The agency advised residents in areas affected by dusty conditions, particularly people with asthma and other respiratory conditions, to limit prolonged outdoor exposure to reduce the risk of breathing difficulties.
It further warned that heavy rainfall and approaching storms could trigger sudden flash floods, urging Nigerians to avoid walking or driving through flooded roads and drainage channels.
The forecast highlights the need for residents to take appropriate precautions against reduced air quality in the North and potential flooding in areas expecting rainfall.
