Oregon Quarterback Dante Moore Hospitalised After Late Hit in USC Clash

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was taken to hospital after suffering a heavy late hit during his team’s 41-27 victory over USC in Los Angeles.

Moore was attempting to slide after scrambling for a first down in the second quarter when USC linebacker Desman Stephens II delivered a high hit that struck the quarterback in the head and sent him heavily to the ground.

Stephens was immediately penalised for targeting and ejected from the game. The incident also sparked a confrontation between players from both teams, with officials issuing unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties.

Moore received several minutes of medical attention before being placed on a stretcher and taken from the field in a neck brace. He was subsequently transported to Los Angeles General Medical Center for further evaluation.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning described the incident as a “disgusting play” but later provided a more reassuring update, saying Moore was able to move his limbs while being assessed.

Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola took over and helped Oregon maintain control of the game. He completed 19 of 25 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns as the Ducks pulled away in the second half.

USC coach Lincoln Riley also expressed concern for Moore after the game.
