Traffic congestion along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has worsened following a crash involving a 40-foot container-laden truck at the exit of Kara Bridge.

The truck reportedly suffered brake failure before crashing into road demarcation blocks and other vehicles, leaving part of the busy corridor obstructed.

The incident occurred as motorists were already facing severe delays around the Kara Bridge area due to ongoing repair work on the bridge, further complicating movement along the Lagos-Ogun corridor.

The crash has triggered a fresh traffic backlog, with congestion extending towards the New Garage area as motorists struggle to navigate the affected section of the expressway.

Traffic management officials have moved to the scene to control vehicular movement and facilitate the removal of the damaged truck and other obstructions from the roadway.

Recovery and evacuation operations are currently underway as authorities work to restore normal traffic flow.

The latest incident has added to growing concerns over road safety and traffic management along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, particularly around the Kara Bridge and adjoining sections where motorists have recently endured prolonged delays.

Motorists using the route have been advised to exercise patience, maintain safe distances and follow instructions from traffic management personnel while recovery operations continue.

The development is expected to further affect commuters travelling between Lagos and Ogun State, particularly during peak travel periods.
