Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has visited the Adamawa Digital Academy in Yola as part of efforts to assess the state of the facility ahead of the commencement of its academic programme.
The governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government (SSG) and other senior government officials and dignitaries during the inspection visit.
The visit provided an opportunity for the governor to inspect the facilities that have been prepared for the launch of the Academy and receive a detailed briefing on the work carried out to make the institution ready for students.
During the tour, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu led the governor and his delegation around the facility, explaining the repairs, rehabilitation and other improvements undertaken to prepare the Academy for the commencement of its programme.
The inspection began at the Auditorium, where the governor was briefed on the facility and its intended role in supporting training, seminars, workshops and other activities of the Academy.
The delegation subsequently inspected the administrative area, followed by the classrooms, where students will receive practical training in various areas of digital skills and technology.
The governor also toured the Academy’s hostel facilities and cafeteria, which are expected to support students participating in the programme, particularly those coming from different parts of Adamawa State.
The inspection concluded at the Academy’s solar farm, where the governor was briefed on the facility’s renewable-energy infrastructure and its role in supporting reliable power supply for the institution.
The inclusion of the solar installation is expected to strengthen the Academy’s operational resilience while providing a more sustainable power solution for its classrooms, administrative facilities and other infrastructure.
The School Coordinator, Dr. Sumayya Sabo, also briefed the governor on the objectives of the Adamawa Digital Academy and the programmes it intends to offer.
She explained that the Academy is designed to equip young people with practical digital skills that can improve their employability, entrepreneurship opportunities and participation in the state’s emerging digital economy.
The Academy is expected to provide training in areas including digital productivity, artificial intelligence, website design, data analytics, graphic design, digital marketing, cloud computing and other technology-related disciplines.
The programme is intended to create opportunities for young people to acquire skills that can be applied both locally and in the wider digital economy.
Beyond technical training, the Academy is expected to contribute to the development of a digitally skilled workforce capable of supporting government, businesses and technology-driven enterprises across Adamawa State.
After inspecting the facilities and receiving briefings from the management and technical team, Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations at the Academy.
The governor commended Dr. Hammajam and the team involved in preparing the facility, acknowledging the effort invested in getting the institution ready for the commencement of its academic programme.
Governor Fintiri also pledged the continued support of the state government, assuring the Academy that the administration would provide the necessary support and resources required for the programme to commence successfully.
He stressed the importance of developing human capital and creating opportunities for young people to acquire skills that can prepare them for the changing demands of the modern economy.
The governor’s commitment is expected to further accelerate preparations for the formal launch of the Academy’s academic programme.
The Adamawa Digital Academy represents part of the state’s broader push towards digital transformation, youth empowerment and the development of a knowledge-based economy.
With dedicated classrooms, accommodation facilities, administrative offices, a cafeteria, auditorium and renewable-energy infrastructure, the Academy is positioned to serve as a hub for digital skills development in the state.
As preparations for the programme continue, attention is now turning towards the formal commencement of training and the enrolment of participants.
The state government’s continued investment in digital education is expected to create new pathways for young people in Adamawa to participate in employment, entrepreneurship, freelancing and other opportunities within the rapidly expanding digital economy.
