The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale operator of N200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The police also recovered a pistol resembling a Beretta and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the suspect was arrested on October 18, 2026, by operatives of the Udenu Police Division, with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

According to Ndukwe, the arrest followed a report that the suspect had allegedly robbed the operator at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, on October 17.

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled from the scene.

The suspect allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to pursue him during his escape.

Ndukwe added that the recovered firearm and ammunition shell had been taken as exhibits as investigations continued.

The police spokesperson said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

He added that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the officers involved in the arrest and acknowledged the support provided by the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

Giwa reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.

He also urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to the police and other recognised security agencies.
