The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted healthcare professionals, medicine importers, distributors, retailers and the general public to the recall of four medicines by Pakistan’s Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP).
The affected medicines are Nitras, Kadin 2, Acefyl and Loratadine 24, which were recalled over quality defects, contamination concerns and failure to meet required regulatory standards.
NAFDAC warned that the use of adulterated or substandard medicines could lead to reduced treatment effectiveness, unexpected adverse reactions, treatment failure and other serious health complications.
The agency said patients using the affected medicines for conditions including cardiac problems, allergies, muscle spasms and cough related illnesses could be particularly exposed to health risks.
NAFDAC said monitoring is ongoing to prevent the recalled products from entering Nigeria. Its zonal directors and state coordinators have also been directed to conduct surveillance and remove the products if they are found within their areas of operation.
The agency urged importers, distributors, pharmacies, healthcare facilities and members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid procuring or distributing any affected batches.
NAFDAC also advised healthcare professionals and consumers to report suspected cases of substandard or falsified medicines to the nearest NAFDAC office, call 0800 162 3322 or email sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
