Everton have reached an agreement with AS Monaco to sign United States international striker Folarin Balogun in a deal worth around £40 million.
The agreement represents a major move by Everton to strengthen their attack as the club looks to complete its squad before the transfer window closes. Balogun is expected to undergo his medical and complete the remaining formalities before the transfer is officially confirmed.
The 25 year old forward is set to return to the Premier League three years after leaving Arsenal for Monaco. His performances in France have helped establish him as one of the United States’ leading attacking players, while his form at international level has also increased his profile.
Balogun joined Monaco after an impressive loan spell at Reims during the 2022/23 season, when he scored 22 goals in Ligue 1. Monaco subsequently made his move permanent, and he went on to score 31 goals in 91 appearances for the French club.
His 2025/26 campaign was particularly productive, with Balogun becoming an important part of Monaco’s attacking setup and earning recognition as one of the club’s leading performers.
Everton have been searching for additional firepower in attack and identified Balogun as a key target. The striker’s pace, movement and ability to operate as a central forward are expected to give manager David Moyes another option in the final third.
The transfer also comes after Balogun’s involvement with the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He scored three goals during the tournament and emerged as one of the team’s most important attacking players.
Balogun was previously developed through Arsenal’s academy before progressing into senior football. He made his first team appearances for the Gunners and also spent time on loan at Middlesbrough before establishing himself in France.
His return to England now gives him another opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League, where he will be expected to lead Everton’s attack and provide a regular source of goals.
The agreement with Monaco is understood to include a fixed fee of around £40 million, with further financial details and add ons expected to be finalised as the transfer progresses.
Everton will hope the signing can provide an immediate boost to their attacking options and help the club compete more effectively during the new Premier League campaign.
Balogun is expected to complete his medical before signing his contract, with the formal announcement to follow once all transfer procedures have been concluded.
