US industrial conglomerate 3M has raised its full-year 2026 profit forecast after cost-control measures and higher prices strengthened its margins, while resilient industrial demand supported its latest quarterly performance.
The company now expects adjusted earnings of $9.10 to $9.15 per share for 2026, up from its previous forecast of $8.80 to $8.95. The revised outlook reflects improved profitability despite uneven demand across some markets affected by inflation.
For the third quarter, 3M reported adjusted revenue of $6.6 billion, an increase of 4.2 per cent from a year earlier. Adjusted earnings rose to $2.50 per share, compared with $2.23 in the corresponding period last year.
Demand for industrial products, including electrical materials, adhesives and semiconductor-related equipment, has helped the company offset weakness in some consumer-facing markets. Growth linked to data centres and semiconductor production has also supported its Transportation and Electronics business, despite subdued demand from automotive and consumer electronics customers.
Chief Executive Officer William Brown has prioritised operational efficiency, customer service and stronger product development as the company seeks to improve growth and profitability.
3M launched 87 new products during the third quarter and expects to introduce more than 350 by the end of 2026.

The company’s revised forecast signals confidence in its cost-control strategy and industrial markets, although inflationary pressures and higher energy costs remain potential challenges for manufacturers.
