The Nigerian Army has reported the surrender of a suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) member in Borno State and the arrest of six suspected kidnappers in Adamawa State during ongoing security operations across the North-East.

The operations were conducted under Operation Hadin Kai as troops intensified efforts to combat terrorism, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region.

The six suspected kidnappers were arrested around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State following intelligence reports about their alleged activities.

The arrests are expected to support further investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in kidnapping and possible links to criminal networks operating in the area.

In a separate development, troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade, operating under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai, received the surrender of a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The surrender occurred on September 13, with preliminary investigations indicating that the individual had escaped from a terrorist enclave before deciding to abandon the group. Forest Guards assisted the military during the operation.

The development comes amid sustained military operations aimed at weakening terrorist groups, disrupting their logistics networks and encouraging members to surrender.

Security agencies have continued to emphasise the importance of intelligence gathering and cooperation with local communities in identifying criminal suspects and preventing attacks.

The Army said investigations into the six suspects arrested in Adamawa would continue, while the surrendered individual would undergo profiling and further interrogation to establish his role and activities within the terrorist organisation.
