The Bauchi State Government has launched the Bauchi State Innovation and Startup Law 2026 and graduated over 100 youths trained in cybersecurity under its CyberNation Programme.

The programme, implemented in partnership with Protexxa, aims to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and prepare them for employment opportunities in the digital economy.

Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, announced the initiatives on Tuesday, describing technology as essential to economic development, job creation and improved public services.

The governor also disclosed that the state had approved zero right-of-way charges for broadband deployment to encourage telecommunications investment and expand internet access, particularly in underserved communities.

He said the partnership with Protexxa had secured a commitment to place at least 80 per cent of the cybersecurity graduates in employment.

Meanwhile, Bauchi State House of Assembly Speaker Abubakar Suleiman said the startup legislation provides a framework for supporting technology-driven businesses, including provisions for a Bauchi State Startup Fund.

The initiatives target digital skills development, startup growth and improved connectivity. Their impact will depend on effective implementation and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities.
