Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempted mass abduction by suspected terrorists in Unguwar Rogo village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation, which took place on Sunday, followed a distress call alerting security forces that terrorists had attacked civilians travelling along a local route.

The troops responded swiftly and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon their plan and flee into the surrounding area. Nine civilians, including an infant, were rescued during the operation.

Two women sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were evacuated for medical treatment. The military said the attack may have been carried out in retaliation for the recent arrest of suspected collaborators allegedly linked to the terrorist network.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and bandit activities, prevent kidnappings and protect civilians across the North-West.

The military has continued to urge residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to support operations against criminal groups.
