The Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to rescue worshippers abducted by suspected bandits in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Victor Olaiya, to coordinate the rescue operation.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, said the operation was launched in compliance with the IGP’s directive and is being carried out in collaboration with other security agencies.
He said security operatives are analysing available intelligence and developing strategies to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims.
Specialised police units, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, have also been deployed to support the operation.
The state government has pledged continued support for the security agencies and urged residents to provide credible information that could assist efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
