The National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents, NCJTFLCA, Seme Border Chapter, has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force over alleged assault, intimidation, extortion and unlawful detention of trucks at the Seme Border.

In the petition, the group accused the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, Seme Border Chapter, of allegedly interfering with the operations of its members and harassing them while carrying out their duties.

The clearing agents said the dispute had been ongoing since November 2025 and was linked partly to disagreements over the administration and distribution of truck levies collected from operators at the border. They alleged that some trucks belonging to their members were detained after the owners refused to pay the disputed levy.

The group urged the police to intervene urgently, warning that continued harassment and detention of trucks could disrupt commercial activities and create tension at the border.
