Nigerian security forces have launched a coordinated operation against armed bandits moving from Zamfara State toward Kebbi State, with an airstrike deployed to disrupt their advance.

The operation involved troops of the Nigerian Army’s COAS Intervention Battalion 3 under the 8 Division, personnel of the Mobile Police Force and the Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

According to security reports, about 240 armed bandits riding motorcycles moved from the Sangeko Gap in Zamfara State toward Makuku in Kebbi State, splitting into three formations as they advanced.

Ground troops and aerial assets were deployed to intercept the armed group and prevent them from reaching surrounding communities.

The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army/Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, confirmed that the operation was ongoing and that further details would be released after its conclusion.

The development has heightened security operations along the Zamfara-Kebbi border as authorities intensify efforts to prevent bandit groups from expanding their operations into neighbouring communities.

Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
