The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a proposed ₦609.154 billion budget envelope for 2027, with more than half of the expenditure earmarked for capital projects as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri continues to prioritise infrastructure and human capital development.

The approval was reached during the 12th meeting of the Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Fintiri, where the council reviewed key programmes and projects aimed at accelerating development across the state.

Under the proposed 2027 budget framework, 54.45 per cent of the total expenditure will be devoted to capital projects, while 45.55 per cent will cover recurrent expenditure.

The allocation reflects the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure development and other long term investments expected to improve public services and stimulate economic growth across Adamawa State.

As part of its education sector interventions, the council also approved ₦459 million for the procurement of Biology instructional materials for 84 secondary schools across the state.

The provision of the materials is expected to strengthen teaching and learning in science subjects while improving access to essential educational resources for students and teachers.

In the area of rural infrastructure, the council approved ₦248 million for the electrification of Morawo and Zungwalu communities in Demsa Local Government Area.

The project is expected to improve access to electricity for residents and support economic activities, particularly small businesses and other enterprises operating within the communities.

The council further approved the engagement of a consultant to conduct a technical readiness assessment for the Rural Electrification Agency.

The assessment is aimed at positioning Adamawa State to access approximately $5 million in World Bank funding for rural electrification projects.

The proposed funding is expected to support the state’s efforts to expand electricity access to underserved communities and strengthen rural development.

The decisions taken at the council meeting underscore the Fintiri administration’s focus on education, rural electrification, infrastructure development and strategic mobilisation of external resources to complement the state’s development programmes.

With the 2027 budget proposal now approved by the Executive Council, the document is expected to proceed through the next stages of the state’s budget process for consideration and legislative approval.
