Anthropic Co-Founder Says AI Could Push US GDP to $44 Trillion by 2030

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark says rapidly advancing artificial intelligence could accelerate scientific discovery, transform industries and significantly boost the US economy.

Speaking at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok on Saturday, Clark said an internal Anthropic economic model projects that US gross domestic product (GDP) could reach $44 trillion by 2030, up from just over $30 trillion currently.

Clark acknowledged that the projection might sound far-fetched but argued that continued AI improvements could drive the innovation needed to support such expansion.

He said growth on that scale would require new industries and inventions to generate substantial additional economic activity.

Clark also called for international cooperation to establish what he described as “unusual and serious rules” governing AI as the technology becomes more powerful.

The $44 trillion figure is an internal model projection, not a confirmed economic forecast. Whether AI can deliver growth on that scale by 2030 remains uncertain.
