Germany is set to announce a cooperation agreement with US chipmaker Nvidia next week to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across its industrial sector, according to government sources cited by Reuters.
The agreement will involve partners beyond Nvidia and is expected to make a significant contribution to industrial AI development in Germany.
Focus on Robotics and Industrial AI
German business newspaper Handelsblatt, which first reported the plan, said the agreement would support physical AI technologies for training robots and self-driving vehicles, as well as the development of advanced AI models for industrial applications.
Physical AI enables machines to interact with the real world, supporting technologies such as industrial robotics, autonomous vehicles and automated manufacturing systems.
Nvidia’s Role in Germany’s AI Strategy
Nvidia supplies AI chips, computing platforms and software used to develop and operate advanced AI systems. Its technologies are widely applied in data centres, robotics and autonomous driving.
The proposed cooperation could strengthen collaboration between Nvidia, German manufacturers and other technology partners, helping expand the use of AI in industrial operations.
However, the agreement’s specific terms, participating organisations and implementation plans have yet to be fully disclosed.
The German government is expected to provide further details when it unveils the agreement next week.
