Troops of the Nigerian military have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered 281 rustled livestock during coordinated security operations in Sokoto State, in a major boost to ongoing efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the North-West.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, targeted suspected bandits’ hideouts in affected communities, leading to the safe rescue of the victims and the recovery of a large number of livestock believed to have been stolen during previous attacks.
Military authorities described the operation as part of sustained offensives aimed at dismantling criminal networks, restoring peace to rural communities and protecting the livelihoods of residents.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while arrangements are underway to identify and return the recovered livestock to their rightful owners through the appropriate authorities.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against bandits and other criminal elements, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to improve security.
The successful operation underscores the determination of security forces to protect lives and property while strengthening stability across Sokoto State and the wider North-West region.
