The All Progressives Congress has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop attributing his administration’s political and governance challenges to President Bola Tinubu and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, insisting that the governor should focus on delivering on his campaign promises.
The party’s response follows recent remarks by Governor Adeleke, which the APC described as an attempt to shift responsibility for issues affecting governance in the state. According to the opposition party, the administration should be held accountable for its policies and decisions rather than engaging in what it termed unnecessary political blame.
The APC maintained that President Tinubu remains committed to national development and has consistently pursued reforms aimed at improving Nigeria’s economy and strengthening democratic institutions. It also defended Oyetola’s record in office, arguing that his administration laid a solid foundation for the state’s development through investments in infrastructure, education and public services.
Party officials stated that political disagreements should not distract from the responsibility of addressing the needs of the people. They called on the Adeleke administration to prioritise service delivery, economic development and improved welfare for residents instead of engaging in partisan exchanges.
Political analysts noted that exchanges between the ruling party in Osun State and the APC are likely to intensify as political activities gather momentum ahead of future elections. They observed that such statements often reflect broader efforts by political parties to shape public perception and strengthen their support base.
Observers also urged political leaders to focus on issue based engagement, emphasising that citizens are more concerned with governance outcomes, economic opportunities, security and improved public services than prolonged political disputes.
The development comes amid heightened political consultations across the country as parties continue to position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle, with governance and party strategies expected to dominate political discourse in the months ahead.
