Katsina United staged a dramatic late comeback to secure a 2–2 draw against Plateau United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 10 encounter at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
The Changi Boys recovered from a two-goal deficit to earn a point after the Peace Boys appeared set for victory in the closing stages of the match.
Plateau United took the lead in the 30th minute through an own goal following a corner kick. The visitors maintained their advantage at half-time despite attempts by the hosts to find an equaliser.
The Peace Boys extended their lead in the 82nd minute when Jibril Ibrahim finished a move created by Nenrot Silas, putting Plateau United in a strong position with little time remaining.
However, Katsina United responded almost immediately. Substitute Yusha’u Armiya’u scored in the 84th minute to reduce the deficit and revive the home side’s hopes.
The hosts continued pressing for an equaliser, and their efforts paid off in stoppage time when substitute Umar Rabi’u scored from close range to make it 2–2, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
The result allowed Katsina United to avoid defeat at home, while Plateau United missed the opportunity to secure an away victory after holding a two-goal advantage late in the game.
The match highlights the importance of maintaining concentration throughout a football game, particularly in its closing minutes. For Katsina United, the comeback provides encouragement, while Plateau United will need to address how they conceded twice after appearing close to securing all three points.
Both teams will now turn their attention to their next fixtures as the 2026/27 NPFL season continues.
