The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has visited patients in two hospitals in Kaduna State as part of its outreach activities ahead of the party’s 2027 election campaign.
The delegation, led by Dr Betta Edu, visited Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, where members interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators.
The visit followed a directive by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for the directorate to reach out to women and children receiving treatment in hospitals ahead of the party’s campaign rally.
Other members of the delegation included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Elizabeth Ogenyi, Ada Ode and Gloria Akobundu. Kaduna State House of Assembly Majority Leader Munirat Suleiman Tanimu also participated.
During the exercise, Edu highlighted federal government healthcare interventions, including free maternal healthcare services in selected hospitals, subsidised renal dialysis and cancer treatment support.
She also commended the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative for supporting midwives’ training and providing equipment to strengthen maternal healthcare services.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the visit and called for the continuation and expansion of healthcare programmes.
The outreach combined humanitarian engagement with political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Beyond its political significance, the visit draws attention to the importance of accessible healthcare, particularly for women, children and other vulnerable patients who may struggle with medical expenses. The long-term impact of such initiatives will depend on sustained support and the availability of essential medical services.
