Manchester United have confirmed the departure of women’s team head coach Marc Skinner after both parties agreed to end their partnership ahead of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League campaign.
The club announced on Monday that Skinner had left his position by mutual consent, bringing an end to a four year spell in charge of the Red Devils.
In an official statement, Manchester United acknowledged the coach’s contribution to the growth of the women’s team during his tenure.
“Marc Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement,” the club said.
“Marc leaves having made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United Women.”
Skinner was appointed as United’s head coach in 2021 and oversaw one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. His biggest achievement came in 2024 when he guided the team to its first major trophy after winning the Women’s FA Cup.
Despite that success, Manchester United endured a difficult league campaign last season, finishing fourth in the Women’s Super League, 15 points behind eventual champions Manchester City.
The timing of Skinner’s departure leaves the club searching for a new manager just weeks before the start of the new season.
Manchester United are scheduled to begin their 2026/27 Women’s Super League campaign away to London City Lionesses on September 4.
