The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education through the construction of Mega Model Science and Technology Schools across the state’s three senatorial zones, while urging communities to take ownership of public infrastructure to ensure its sustainability.
The Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, made this known during an inspection of the Mega Model Boys Science and Technology School in Lamurde Local Government Area.
According to the state government, community participation in safeguarding public assets is essential to preserving investments in critical infrastructure and ensuring that development projects serve future generations.
The Lamurde school, one of the flagship education projects of the Governor Ahmadu Fintiri administration, has reached about 85 per cent completion. During the inspection, the project consultant assured the government that work was progressing as scheduled and that efforts were being intensified to meet the target for the commencement of academic activities in September.
Despite the significant progress recorded, Prof. Farauta expressed dissatisfaction with some aspects of the construction, stressing that the government would not compromise on quality.
She directed the contractors to ensure that every component of the project complies with approved specifications and timelines, warning that substandard work would not be accepted.
The Mega Model Science and Technology School is designed to serve as a centre of excellence for science, technology, engineering and innovation. In addition to conventional classroom learning, the institution will equip students with practical skills in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, digital technology and advanced scientific research, positioning them to compete in the global knowledge economy.
