The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved development contracts worth more than ₦5.6 billion for projects covering education, healthcare, environmental sanitation, housing and airport infrastructure across the state.
The approvals were made during the 18th Executive Council meeting of 2026, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the council approved ₦176.8 million for instructional materials and the printing of non security documents for public secondary schools across the state.
The council also approved ₦212.9 million for the construction of 100 heavy duty metal waste bins to be installed at different locations within Yola metropolis. The initiative is expected to improve environmental sanitation and support the state’s urban renewal efforts.
In the healthcare sector, the council approved ₦295.7 million for the construction of a computed tomography scan block at General Hospital, Michika. It also approved ₦1.34 billion for the procurement of a 32 slice CT scan machine to strengthen diagnostic services and improve access to specialised medical care.
The council further approved ₦249.9 million for the construction of a multipurpose community hall in Prambe, with the project expected to be completed within six months.
For government infrastructure, ₦1.43 billion was approved for the construction of a new office complex for the deputy governor. According to the commissioner, the project became necessary because of limited office space at the existing facility, which had led to the relocation of the deputy governor’s office to Government House.
Another ₦1.9 billion was approved for the construction of a new presidential lounge at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport in Yola. The facility is expected to provide improved amenities for dignitaries and other VIP passengers using the airport.
The approved projects reflect the state government’s investment priorities in public education, healthcare delivery, sanitation and infrastructure development.
When completed, the projects are expected to improve access to diagnostic medical services, provide learning materials for students, support cleaner urban environments and enhance facilities for government officials and airport users.
However, the actual benefits will depend on timely execution, effective monitoring and the quality of work delivered by contractors.
The latest approvals form part of the Fintiri administration’s broader development programme aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps and improving public service delivery across Adamawa State.
