The Adamawa Digital Academy has welcomed its students, with the academy’s coordinator, Dr. Sumaiyya Sabo, urging them to take advantage of the learning opportunity and contribute to the state’s digital development.

Speaking during the student orientation on Monday, Sabo appreciated the Adamawa State Government under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for its digital innovation efforts. She disclosed that approximately 11,000 students had registered with the academy and assured them that no one would be left behind, regardless of their existing level of digital knowledge.

She encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunity, build their skills and remain confident in their ability to succeed.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Hammanjam Ahmad, Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, E-Governance and Policy, presented the academy as a key component of the state’s 2.0 digital transformation agenda.

He said the government’s development priorities extend beyond physical infrastructure to include broadband connectivity, electronic governance, technological innovation and skilled human capital.

Ahmad disclosed that Adamawa had recorded broadband performance 25 per cent above the national average following the removal of zero right-of-way charges. He also said nearly one million people had been captured on the state’s digital identity platform.

He added that the government had established a data centre to support civil service digitisation and electronic resource planning, integrating key offices, including those of the Governor, Accountant-General, Head of Service and Civil Service Commission.

According to Ahmad, the academy aims to develop young people who can create technology, solve problems, think critically, establish businesses and compete in the global digital economy, rather than simply learn basic computer skills.
