The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has dislodged street traders occupying road corridors, walkways and other unauthorised spaces around Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, and the Costain Under Bridge, National Theatre axis.

The enforcement operation was carried out in collaboration with the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, as part of efforts to restore order, protect public spaces and ease pedestrian and vehicular movement.

LAWMA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the exercise was aimed at addressing street trading activities that obstruct movement and contribute to environmental nuisance.

He warned traders against occupying road corridors, walkways and other unauthorised locations, urging them to conduct their businesses only in designated and approved trading areas.

Gbadegesin said maintaining clean and orderly public spaces required sustained compliance from traders, residents and other stakeholders.

He added that LAWMA would continue working with relevant government agencies to tackle activities that undermine environmental standards and public order across Lagos.

The authority also assured residents that monitoring of the affected areas would continue to prevent traders from returning to the cleared locations.
