Google will invest at least €13 billion, about $15.1 billion, in artificial intelligence infrastructure in Finland over the next two years, its largest investment in Europe, the company said on Wednesday.
The investment will cover data centres, power grid upgrades, clean energy and battery projects supporting services including Gemini, Search, Maps and YouTube.
Google said the projects, planned for 2027 and 2028, could contribute about $3.6 billion to Finland’s economy during construction and support around 7,000 jobs annually once operational.
Finland has attracted major data centre investments because of its cold climate, which reduces cooling costs, and its abundant low carbon electricity.
