The Kano State Government has commenced the empowerment of 5,800 women across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas as part of efforts to reduce poverty and improve the economic wellbeing of women.

The beneficiaries are receiving ₦50,000 each under the state’s Monthly Women’s Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme. The funds are intended to help the women start or expand small businesses and improve their sources of income.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely by investing it in productive activities that can generate income and support their families.

The government said the programme is part of its broader efforts to empower women, strengthen small businesses and improve the living conditions of vulnerable residents across Kano State.

The initiative covers beneficiaries across all 44 LGAs, giving women from different communities the opportunity to benefit from the government’s economic empowerment programme.
