The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited (FIRST E&P) have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting non-governmental organisations driving sustainable development and social impact across Nigeria.

The companies made the commitment at an event organised to recognise and support selected NGOs whose initiatives are contributing to improved livelihoods and community development.

The partnership reflects growing efforts by organisations in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector to strengthen collaborations with civil society groups working in areas such as education, healthcare, youth empowerment, community development and social inclusion.

Speaking at the event, representatives of NNPC and FIRST E&P highlighted the importance of supporting organisations with proven capacity to deliver measurable impact at the grassroots.

They noted that effective partnerships with NGOs could help extend the reach of corporate social investment programmes and ensure that interventions respond to the actual needs of vulnerable communities.

The companies also stressed the importance of transparency, accountability and measurable outcomes in implementing development-focused initiatives.

According to them, supporting credible NGOs is not only about providing funding but also about creating sustainable partnerships capable of delivering long-term benefits to communities.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen the capacity of selected organisations and enable them to expand projects aimed at improving the well-being and economic opportunities of beneficiaries.

The initiative further underscores the role of strategic partnerships between the private sector, government-linked institutions and civil society organisations in addressing social and developmental challenges across the country.
