Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the creation of a new district comprising eight village areas in Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also approved the creation of a new village headship in Augie Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen traditional administration and improve grassroots governance.

The approvals were contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, in Birnin Kebbi.

The state government said the measures were aimed at bringing traditional administration closer to the people, improving coordination at the grassroots and enhancing effective local governance.

The newly appointed traditional rulers are expected to work closely with their communities and relevant authorities to promote peace, stability and development across their respective areas.

The development comes amid the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the traditional institution and improve grassroots administration across Kebbi State.
