Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has attended the turbaning ceremony of eight distinguished personalities by the Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, where he urged the newly installed traditional title holders to promote peace, unity and community development.
The ceremony, held at the palace of the Emir in Mubi, attracted traditional rulers, government officials, political leaders and other prominent personalities.
Among those honoured was Dr Mahmood Ahmadu, who received the traditional title of Turakin Mubi, alongside Buba Shafani and six other distinguished personalities.
Congratulating the recipients, Fintiri urged them to regard their new titles as a call to greater responsibility and service to humanity.
He encouraged them to use their positions, influence and experience to strengthen peaceful coexistence, promote unity and contribute meaningfully to the development of the Mubi Emirate and Adamawa State.
The governor also acknowledged the important role of traditional institutions in preserving cultural values, resolving community disputes and supporting government efforts to maintain peace and security.
As part of activities marking his 59th birthday, Fintiri donated N20 million towards settling the medical bills of patients receiving treatment at Mubi General Hospital.
His friend, Dr Mahmood Ahmadu, also contributed N15 million, bringing the total donation to N35 million.
The intervention is expected to provide financial relief to patients facing difficulties in settling their medical bills and enable them to access necessary healthcare services.
During his visit, the governor interacted with patients and reiterated the importance of supporting vulnerable residents, particularly those experiencing financial challenges in accessing medical treatment.
Fintiri also inaugurated his Mubi Senatorial Campaign Office as part of preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor assured residents that ongoing development projects across Mubi and surrounding communities would be completed before the expiration of his administration.
He urged residents to continue supporting government efforts towards development while calling for greater cooperation with security agencies to address insecurity in the area.
Earlier, Fintiri attended Friday prayers at Maiha Central Mosque before paying a courtesy visit to the Emir of Maiha, Alhaji Ahmad Saibaru.
The traditional ruler commended the governor’s administration for its development interventions and acknowledged his visit to the emirate.
The governor was accompanied by the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, his running mate, Hon. Adamu Kamale, and other political leaders.
The activities brought together traditional, religious, humanitarian and political engagements, highlighting the governor’s visit to Mubi and neighbouring communities.
