The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Ogun State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The socio-cultural organisation also conferred the chieftaincy title of Dike Eji Eje Mba on Adeola in recognition of his contributions to the development of Ogun State.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Ogun State, Eze Stephen Okorie, disclosed the endorsement during a courtesy visit to the senator, where he led a five-member delegation to inform him of the honour.
According to a statement issued by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Adeola’s Special Adviser on Media, the formal installation ceremony is scheduled to take place in Abeokuta at the end of October 2026.
The ceremony is also expected to feature a formal declaration of support for Adeola’s governorship ambition and other All Progressives Congress candidates in Ogun State.
Okorie said the organisation’s decision was influenced by what he described as Adeola’s developmental achievements, particularly in road construction and market infrastructure.
He explained that the projects had contributed to promoting trade and commercial activities across the state.
The Ohanaeze leader also said the endorsement was intended to address the perceived marginalisation of Ogun West, which has yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
Okorie further disclosed that he had personally constructed five campaign billboards in support of Tinubu and Adeola across Ogun State.
Responding, Adeola expressed appreciation for the support from the Igbo community, recalling its contributions to his political career in Lagos State.
The senator said his political approach was based on inclusion and good governance for residents, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
He added that infrastructure projects, including roads, schools and hospitals, were intended to benefit everyone living in the state.
The endorsement comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections..
