The Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), in partnership with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has commenced a four day refresher training for 398 instructors working at technical skills acquisition centres across Adamawa State.
The Adamawa News Agency reports that the training is focused on the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) curriculum and is bringing together centre managers and workshop assistants from PAWECA’s 10 skills acquisition centres across the state.

Speaking at the opening of the programme, PAWECA Director General, Dr. Michael Zira, commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for supporting initiatives aimed at expanding employment and economic opportunities for young people.
Zira urged the participants to take full advantage of the training and effectively apply the knowledge gained, as well as the starter packs to be provided, to strengthen their livelihoods and support other youths in their communities.
He stressed that government could not provide jobs for everyone, noting that practical skills and entrepreneurship remain important tools for promoting self reliance and reducing unemployment.
The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hammanjuba Gatugel, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Peter Adilbakiriya, also praised the administration’s efforts in promoting youth and women empowerment through skills development.
A resource person from NBTE, Engineer Bashir Datti Ibrahim, said the programme would help improve the capacity of instructors and ultimately strengthen training outcomes for beneficiaries of PAWECA’s skills acquisition programmes.
The four day training is expected to enhance the quality of technical and vocational instruction and expand opportunities for productive engagement among youths across Adamawa State.
