The Kaduna State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (KASU-ASUU) has suspended its strike following the Kaduna State Government’s approval of the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.

The suspension took effect from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, after the union’s congress accepted the approvals granted by the state government, the university’s Governing Council and its management.

Implementation of the agreement for KASU academic staff is expected to begin with the October 2026 salary. The university authorities have also approved the payment of nine months’ accrued arrears covering January to September 2026.

The union said the decision followed discussions involving ASUU, the Kaduna State Government and university authorities on the implementation of the agreement and improved conditions of service for academic staff.

With the suspension of the strike, academic activities at Kaduna State University are expected to resume.
