The Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) has pledged to strengthen partnerships aimed at expanding access to inclusive and quality basic education for children affected by conflict, including vulnerable children and survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV).
Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB, Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, made the commitment on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, when he received a joint delegation from the Global Survivors Fund (GSF), Youth Initiative Against Terrorism (YIAT), and Women and Children Conflict Survivors Foundation (WCCSF) in Yola.
The engagement focused on reviewing existing educational support for conflict affected populations, identifying gaps and discussing practical interventions to improve access to education for CRSV survivors and children born of CRSV.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Caroline Walter, Team Lead, expressed the organisations’ interest in strengthening collaboration with ADSUBEB and other government stakeholders to develop sustainable education programmes tailored to the needs of vulnerable children.
Discussions also covered enrolment and retention, community advocacy, capacity building, identification of educational needs, and the establishment of effective support and referral mechanisms.
The meeting highlighted the need for continued coordination between government institutions, development partners and civil society organisations to ensure conflict affected children are not excluded from basic education opportunities.
